Laughing Kookaburra - Dacelo novaeguineae

Took this one a few years ago. I wish the perch was better, but I love the look of the bird.

Cool bird, makes me wonder if they are related to Kingfishers! Love the over the shoulder pose, the wing color and the tail pattern.

I like this a lot. Though a natural perch would be great, at least you got a color that works with the plumage! :lol: :D :lol:

Brian, they are part of the Kingfisher family, and are the largest of the species in the world.

Thanks all for the comments. I'll have to check the original regarding the hot whites - might be worth another scan. It was shot on Provia 100F at 320 and processed at 400.
