After reading so many books about Cranes I was so excited to see my first one on a trip to Crandon this spring. I know you guys in Florida see them all the time but it was a real thrill to watch these Sand-hills for a few hours. I just wanted to share my excitement with you.

Comments appreciated.

Nice shot, Chris. I am impressed with the beauty and elegance of these cranes, too. I have seen sandhills here in Texas since I was a teenager but I never got really close to them until I went up to Canada. I was even able to hand feed a couple of hungry, but still free and wild, adults. They were surprisingly gentle in taking the seed from my hand. They are wonderful birds and great fun to observe up close.

Wow, I'll bet it was a thrill, and it must have been a thrill again when you saw how good an image you captured here. The bird really stands out well from the clean, dark bg.
