Hi guys, haven't posted in ages and ages, so figured better put something (anything) up.

Would appreciate any help, comments critiques on this shot as I quite like it but have no idea how to "lift" the bird from it's surroundings as the colours (or lack of them) are similar. I'm a photoshop dunce!
Image

The specs are as follows.
Eos 10d, 500mm, 1/1000sec, F5.6.
Location : Estero lagoon.

This guy was a beauty, and so habituated to people he actually walked through the legs of my tripod
You can't get within a few hundred yards of these in Ireland without spooking them so I was surprised to say the least. Would love to go back as I had literally just bought my Eos10d a few weeks before going to Florida and had no clue what I was doing :?

Cheers for looking.

All the best, Gearoid

I can't express in words how much I like this image. The dreamy high-key water, the pose, it's all so perfect. Such a unique shot and one of my favorites for some time here. Awesome.

Gearoid, I really like it the way it is. It has a soft and serene feeling to it, beautiful light and detail. The bird quietly emerges from the background....would not want it changed!

Very nice shot and well done.

The foot in the air and the details in the whites really rock.

Thanks a million guys. I'm glad somebody else likes it.

Hey Chris, I wish I could claim credit for things like a "High Key" portrait, but it was a happy fluke. just tried to not blow out the whites. Phew  :D :D

Cheers again. Any other comments welcome.

The insane look on its face is typical for Snowys. They are fun birds -- always fighting with each other. Excellent depiction. Perhaps a tad off the top.

I also like the color palette of this image, wouldn't change it! The light is just soo sweet! I do agree with Sandy's comment of a bit off the top.

Lovely! Love the composition and how the background graduates from light to dark. The feather detail and 'foot-up' posture 'seals the deal'!!

Well done, Gearoid!

Nope wouldn't change a thing, it looks great! (well if I would I'd crop just a bit of the top for composition)
