Im working on some locale contest photos what do you think?
Maybe a little to hot? I applied a warming filter to help with the harsh light

This is not much of a photo but can I get a ID on this next fellow.

I sure wish I had my tripod and some better light with me

Nicely composed, I like the way the branch fills in the lower portion of the frame. This also works well with the preening posture of the bird. Well done.

Good composition but the bird is not large enough for me to keep my eyes on the preening behavior. The warming has caused the birds white feathers to look a bit too unreal. Still a nice image. The bird in your link is a Green Heron.

Tough to alter harsh light conditions and make it look realistic. Great pose and perch.

Exposure is good, Thomas!
Would be tempted to give it a tight crop instead. This would give back the focus on the preening bird itself ...

Nice shot, Thomas. I like the preening behavior and the exposure looks good to me. I wish you had been closer and lower resulting in a tighter more detailed shot with a more oof bg. You mentioned that cropping was heavy, so I'm assuming a tighter crop isn't an option. Good luck with the contest.

Nice preening shot, Thomas. The bird could have been a bit bigger. Nonetheless, a nice image.
