First 20D post.

Just got the 20D, and have to add to the Great Gray post abundance. Had a great day of shooting at Ile Bizard, Quebec with Chris, Rob, Vadim, and several others. A great group of photographers to meet and spend the day with. I'm still pondering my thoughts on AF for larger birds-in-flight with this camera. I had a fair amount of coming at you blurred shots.

Shutter speed: 1/4000 sec
Aperture: 6.3
Exposure mode: Av
Exposure compensation: -1/3
Metering mode: Evaluative
ISO: 400
Lens: 100 to 400mm
Focal length: 105mm
AF mode: AI Servo AF

Jeff,
I had similar troubles trying to get flight shots with my 20D. Still better than the 10D, though. Great shot of a "Great" bird. I am jealous of a nice flight shot like this.

Excellent shot, Jeff. In retrospect I would have traded an extra stop of aperture for one stop less of speed.

I agree with Sandy, but also understand that when things are in the air, we take what we can get, and try to imrove as we go along.

Very nice shot. Great Grey at 105mm, Wow.

Amazing shot Jeff. Love the blue sky!! Maybe trade a bit of space on right for a bit more on left?

Wow this is beautiful. For me, the composition works as is because of the way the owl is situated.

A wonderful shot, Jeff!
The head and the leading edge of the wing are sharp. Would have loved a bit more dof if that's the cause of soft body ...

Jeff,

This is an excellent shot. I like the placement in the frame and the way the right wing is pointing to the upper corner.

Great shot, Jeff. Gotta love the blue sky! I think I would have traded aperature for speed but you never know what is going to happen. I have many going the other way too.
