This was the first GGO of the season that I found and photographed. When I first found it, it was in the middle of a field and partially obscured by trees with a bad background. After about 15-20 minutes of watching, it flew and landed on a steel pole 20 feet away. I had to move a little in order to get the dogwood (hence the red BG) behind the bird.

I have mixed feeling about the background, but this is a wonderful portrait.

I agree with Skip. Love the portrait, but would prefer a different background. Just my 2 cents.

I love it, Scott, specially with the graded background. I would like a little off the top though. Nice detail and exposure.

I was hoping to leave a little on the top for a title of some major magazine!

Fantastic portrait and a really cool background. This is a great format for a magazine cover but for display on its own like it is here, I would crop a bit off the top.

very cool, blows all mine away :D I liek the BG and the bird. I am pretty impresed by the detail in the facial disk. It was very hard to get that definition that you have got.
4 down, 2 to go.

Scott, love this as presented! I've tried to get the colourful BG's, seems like the sky is never clear when I wait for sunsets. Great shot!
