This is from last summer, and while certainly not a colourful species, the Song Sparrow makes up for that by his singing, which is always enjoyable to hear.

Lovely singing pose and nice background. I'm wondering if they can find around this time of the year.

Thank you for your comments, Karl. A day or so ago, I went for a walk where I had taken this photo last summer, and saw a few individuals which good very well have been this species, although I was not able to make a positive identification, as they flew out of viewing range. The Song Sparrow is shown in my guide books as being a winter resident in our region, so perhaps some out Guelph way. Next time I'll take my binoculars and camera!

Thanks for the info, Paul. I'll keep my eyes and ears open. I know that the Am. Robins are back as I hear them sing in my backyard.

Perfect iconic view of this songster. It is always a delight to hear them in the spring-one of the first songsters here. It is also amusing to hear them in the fall when the young are practicing their song , and it is not quite there yet. :)
