Thick-billed Murre, aka Brunnich's Guillemot
D500, 100mm, 1/1600, f/9, ISO2000, cropped
Svalbard

This duo carried a fight down from the nesting cliffs to the water as we zodiac cruised along the cliffs.  It was pretty intense, lasting about 1.5 minutes.  They were nipping at each other's necks in many of the images.  It ended suddenly with both swimming off.  Not sure whether the dispute was resolved or a truce was called.

Amazing capture of this very intense sparring, Cindy! The churned up water surface and multiple flying water droplets really tell the story!

Maybe this is what happens if you sit on a cliff all day. :)
