Canon 7DII
Canon 600mm f5.6 1/800 ISO 400 I was shooting this scene at f5.6 to ensure a nice clean background. I only wish I had slightly more DOF in order to gain a little sharpness at the end of the tail here, but I chose this shot because I just loved the pose. Redstarts are thought to sometimes flare their tails to flush insects and eat them. I see that a lot from painted redstarts in Arizona but when I see American Redstarts flair their tail it's usually when another redstart is around. In this case it was a young male coming into the area who was likely also responding to the scold call that I was playing on my speaker. |
