Photo taken at the Laguna Seca Ranch in deep South Texas October 26, 2019.

You can tell this is a Juvenile Male because the Adult Male would have a much more pronounced red area on its stomach and also a brighter red crest.  In my opinion, the Pyrrhuloxia is one of the prettiest birds at the ranch.

Dan, This is what it looks like without the vegetation.  You might be right.  I think removing the vegeation gives more emphasis to the bird?
