Small crop.
It has been a long time since I have posted an image here.
I find that I am becoming more and more partial to environmental images.
Looking forward to your comments and critiques,

this is just sweet and sublime Gail. Superb composition and light quality. clearly, we have been the poorer from your absence. The extra habitat makes it so more interesting

Just a beautiful image and composition. I personally love environmental or wildlife in the habitat images when done as well as this is. It does help that most of the background is OOF since the bird is small in the frame and that the bird is so sharp. This would make a great large print IMO.

Nice to see you posting here, Gail. Lovely image, nice bird and environment. I keep trucking of postings on BPN including yours, but cannot comment there as I'm not a member anymore.

The low perspective, the splash of color, and the habitat all contribute to the success of this fine image, Gail. Very well done.

Great use of the wider view including the habitat and the light is beautiful. The sandpiper is the star of the show with just the right amount of head turn to engage with the viewer. A lovely image, Gail and good to see you again!

I like the habitat look and the soft tone bg it makes the sandpiper pop in the image.

Very good use of this bird's habitat to create nice composition with a painterly look, and the bird in the perfect spot with a very good pose. I prefer this type of portrait image and search for it when it is possible. Recognizing the possibility is key.

I don't know your personal history, Gail,

Llike some of our colleagues, so I cannot appreciate your comment about being partial to 'environmental images'. But, art, I definitely recognize in your image. I hope you have a large print hanging on your wall!

I agree with your thinking about including a good deal of the environment/habitat, and this is a real beauty- a prime example. Gorgeous colors and light!
