Every year huge numbers of swallows migrate from their breeding grounds in the Northern Hemisphere to the far reaches of the Southern Hemisphere.  This one crossed the globe to reach the Kruger National Park in South Africa where he/she will help reduce the insect burden whilst overwintering in a warm, hospitable climate before making the long journey back home.

What a great, in-your-face takeoff shot, Monique! Good detail, nice eye contact, and a terrific takeoff pose with wings extended upward. Well done!

Great looking pose! Shot looks a bit yellow/warm to me, but that might also be the lighting on the day.
