Ringed Kingfisher - Pantanal, Brazil
D500, 500mm, ISO 400, f/6.3, 1/2000

The first photo I took in Brazil's Pantanal.  Taken from a boat.  It's amazing how easy it is to approach Kingfishers from a boat opposed to from land...  Light's a bit harsh, but who isn't going to take one of these large KF's the very first time you ever see the species?

Great opportunity and well taken advantage of. If I may suggest at all, I would suggest to open up the dark eye, to make it more "lively".

Thanks Karl, it turns out I posted the wrong version of the photo, one I just did a quick and dirty processing on a tablet for FB, rather than the one I processed on my desktop.  I replaced the picture.

I like this processed version much better. The open beak showing the tongue a little bit is very cool.

Yes, you wouldn't pass this chance, would you! Click on the image and this one pops beautifully from the foliage.
