Brilliant shot Karl. Colors-comp and that smooth background. Very nice.

Superbly exposed, Karl. Love the tones of the tree and BG. Nice choice with vertical comp as well.

Best,

Matt

Karl, this image is a winner in all aspects except composition for me. I love the soft lighting, beautiful BG and wonderful colours, and that perch is quite nice as well. Compositionally it way too left heavy for my eye. I would move it so the bird is way more to the right with much more space behind the pole. For me, woodpecker images still need the space in front of the bird rule to look balanced.

Thanks for your kind words, Tim.
I'll keep in mind for next time what you suggested about the composition.

Beautiful color palette, and Tim beat me to it on the left-heavy composition.

Phenomenal detail and colors on this image.  Makes me want to consider a full-frame camera.

Thanks Tim Mike and all of you. I corrected the composition. I hope you like it.
Thanks, Dean. The 5D Mark IV has been the best camera I have ever had, just love it.
