I thought I would throw this one in for this weeks forum. I just got a new scanner and I am getting used to it and scanning some old images.

This was taken on a very snow day in 1995. There must have been some tasty pine boughs here as this buck ate on this tree for several minutes. Much longer than I wanted to expose my equipment to the heavy snow.

Specs: Nikon 8008s - Nikkor 300 f/2.8 - Manual Exposure from snowy foreground and open two stops - Fuji Sensia 100

Les, very nice. The snowy face and branches really make it. I'd prefer it with more of the legs though.

Hey Les,

Aren't you that guy that Chipper's being asking about? :D

I like this a lot .. has a lot of mood in it .. I love the effect of the snowy f/g on the legs, and a nice inclusion of environment that works well.

Good to see you posting, man.

Cheers

Carl

Thanks for posting. I really enjoy the snowing mood here and coupled with the eating behavior I have to say its a great shot.. I think (??) you may have a slight magenta cast in the whites, easily adjusted in PS. If I had to make a suggestion it would be to have gone vertical so as to include the legs to the feet. Your low angle of view may still have prevented this, I am not sure.. Thanks again for posting in wildlife.

Lovely moody shot. I don't miss the legs much and I like how the OOF snow blends into the deer. The browsing activity is great. Thanks for posting.

Nice image...very unique. I like the blurred portion in the FG and the pine cone right above his head is a nice touch with all the snow.

The blurred fg makes me forget about the legs (in a good way). This is a very nice behavioral shot!!

Cute shot. it does look magenta to me as well. Other then less focal lenght to get the virtual legs I think the comp works.
