Got just a bit too close to his nice collection of cows and he decided to show us who was the boss.... You can see the snow is missing from the grass in the foreground- clear evidence showing who's in retreat!

Very nice shot. Although I must say, it’s not fair. You guys have a ‘cuteness alert’, but shots like this need a ‘diaper alert’. (I almost had an accident. )

I can understand why you were retreating! Nice shot. I love all the snow in his rack.

Holy smokes, this guy was close! I'm not sure that I would have had the wits to get a shot in this situation, and I know that I wouldn't have been able to get a good one like this. The snowy rack and aggressive stance really make it.

Hey Tim,

Too close man!!! :D .. and you shot this with a 70-200mm?? you're crazy!

I'd like a little more detail in the moose, if it's there. The head on pose with that impressive rack is very dynamic.

Cheers

Carl

Great wintery moose shot Tim.. I had to chuckle at the part about the retreat. Glad you both are OK.. Maybe 300mm next time hey

PS Read a Moose Book this weekend Text V Geist, Photos MH Francis and there is a picture in there of a bull with gnarled up horns, and I think its likely to be the same moose! The author cites sickness, hormone abnormalities and nutritional stress as cause for the abnormal rack. Just thought you might want to check it out if you havent already..Voyageur Press.

I love the snow in the rack but the lack of any other meaningful detail in the moose is troubling. I would also have preferred to see a bit less clutter on the bottom, suggesting a tighter crop.

Glad this was not posted posthumously.

Very cool shot! It does have a magenta cast.

I love these snowy moose shots. This one is really nice IMO. As far as the magenta cast goes, I think it's relatively difficult to get snow to look pure white! I also like the snow on the rack.
