For discussion purposes only. This is shot from a pullout above Horseshow Park. On this morning, the elk headed to the willows and cover right after daybreak. This shot was made before the sun reached the elk. The next morning, when I was working magpies, the elk stayed in the open much longer after sunrise (which would have been nice for shutter speed and DOF). Rocky Mountain National Park, EOS-3, 600 IS, Ev. @ 0 or -1/3, approx. 1/30, f4. Slight crop for web; cloned out one animal fully in the frame (left edge) but to my taste too close to the edge. I have many other shots with fewer animals nicely positioned (i.e., no cloning needed), but liked the greater number of animals in this one. |
