Image
Whitetail Deer, Shenandoah National Park

10D, 100-300 4.5-5.6, ISO100, f5.6, 1/4000, tripod. PS7 curves.

I curious as to what others think of this image. I wish the bucks had been higher on the ridgeline to better show their legs. I set the tripod as low as possible to put the skyline below their bodies, but this was the best I could do. With a curves adjustment I was able to bring out a bit of shadow detail that highlights the legs, but I'm not sure if it's enough.

Any comments/critiques on this would be greatly appreciated. Reposts for discussion purposes welcome.

Thanks for looking.

Nice interaction. I too would prefer the legs to be more visible or else a tighter crop with their head and shoulders. nice moment you've captured.

Very nice. Yes, higher would have been nice, but there's enough light on their legs to highlight them. Its a real keeper in my book!

Chris, getting the light through more of their underside would definitely have made this killer, but there's a lot to like here as is. Definitely getting a silohuette of those two bucks interacting is fantastic, and the profiles you've captured look great against the colorful background. I think ultimately this particular frame will yield the strongest image with a crop which limits the black at the bottom, either a panoramic of the top or a vertical of both their head and necks.

There's nothing 'd change here. You do have one little dark area between the big bucks legs that I might paint the same color as the rest of te BG.
