This will be my last coyote post for a long time, I promise. Soon I'll have slides from the rest of Chas' terrific workshop and a few extra days in Jasper, so will have a bit more variety.

This coyote and the one in the previous two posts were both scavenging on a dying bighorn ewe, and then this one ran ran up the hill. It seemed much more skittish about being close to the road, but still seemed to want a piece of the action.

Still another cooperative effort, with the camera loaned by Chas and the images burned to a CD by Cheryl. ISO 400, f/6.3, 100-400 on Chas' 1D @ 400mm handheld. Thanks for all the help already received, and for comments and suggestions.

Cool! The apparent motion blur in the fur, combined with the angles gives a real dramatic action sense to this, but it's sharp where it needs to be. The intense expression in the eyes and mouth, with the streak of blood, is great.

I think I have seen this shot before! Nice one Kelly. I really like the bit of blood on the muzzle and the sense of motion in the shot.

Kelly, Yikes, I cannot take too many more of these coyote images-lol You certainly made the most of this brief encounter. You go girl, and get that camera working again.

Best,

Chas

Thanks for the comments!

Chas, both my camera and 100-400 are on their way to the repair center.

Dennis, Cheryl and Tom were also getting the coyotes, and I hope we'll be seeing some of their shots too.

Paul,
We had just left Kelly on the side of the road so she could practice with the digital camera while we went into town for lunch. Only kidding.

Tom Hill, Dennis O and I were also shooting the coyote/kill series along with Kelly and the third vehicle was scouting other things further up the road and did not see this. As we had so many excellent photo ops and such great subjects on this trip, we have been trying to post different subjects/situations. Kelly only shot a few things on the digital and otherwise has to wait to get her film back so she shares her first ever digital images now and the rest of us post something else.

Hey Kelly-this digital stuff is really addicting isn't it?

Very nice Kelly. The blood on the face looks much like my lipstick after I kiss my dog :D

This is more like the coyotes I have seen from my old hunting days. They are neat animals but not necessarily the docile animals most photos make them out to be. For that reason I really like this image and I think you have done an excellent job making this image.

Great shot Kelly! Nature captured in action. I like the unusual angles and motion.
