The charismatic and critically endangered Black Crested Macaque (Macaca nigra). On this particular day, we had been following this troop through the rainforest for several hours, before they finally decided to settle down for a rest from the midday heat.
Grooming is an important ritual in primates and serves to both keep the monkeys healthy as well as reinforce social structures and bonds. Photographed in Tangkoko National Park, northeastern Sulawesi. D810, 500mm, f4, 1/320th, ISO6400, full frame. Last edited by Des on Thu Aug 12, 2021 5:54 am, edited 1 time in total. |
