A lengthy battle but the Jaguar won after taking the Caiman's brain out... :o

Great shot showing the power of those jaws. I wonder what size of Caiman Jaguars can take, the Blacks get really large but are much rarer than the Speckled. (shoes and purses were the Blacks downfall)

That looks like a good challenge for the Jaguar, amazing how large of a caiman it can take down. Really compelling story-telling image.

Astounding image, EJ!
Everything came together for you on this one.
Remarkable that jaguars prey on these large reptiles, and that they have enough experience with it that they stay away from the throat and go after the brains!

A cracking good shot EJ, a bucket list shot for me no doubts.

I'm wondering how many days or hours it took to be rewarded with such a moment, I'd be inclined to crop out half the lower 1/4 of water just where your sig is for mine.

Just a wonderful experience to witness and document, well done!

It happened on the last morning after a week of cruising the waterways for about 8 hours a day.  We had plenty of other Jaguar sightings in that time but only this one with serious action.  The whole kill, from initial stalk through finally the Jaguar dragging the Caiman into the woods was all observed by my boat and took about 20 minutes over a river length of about a half mile.

Powerful image, that's for sure. So nice to get this in the open, and the look on the Jaguar's face is amazing. Ignoring your skill, it supports the theory, "the more time you spend photographing, the luckier you get."
