Gene, the composition is excellent — love how the trail leads to the deer. Beautiful habitat throughout, and great eye contact. Well done.

What a sweet shot, looking back along the trail. They are so curious aren't they? Lovely light just where needed.

What Ron said. I would add that having the trail mostly in shadow also plays a big part in the success of the composition. The deer is so nicely spotlighted but surrounded by the darker setting it stands out even more. Really beautiful shot.

Not an easy light to work with but really nice when you view the uncompressed image and see the detail and the spotlight effect on this pretty whitetail, Gene. Love the composition with the leading line of the path taking the viewer through the shade to the illuminated subject.
