This is a twelve year old male.
The average life span of Red Foxes is 2-5 years in the wild. He fathered several litters in his long life. His female disappeared two years ago, probably got killed. This spring a young dashing Foxy Lady showed up at his den and wanted to mate with him. She used all the tricks and attractiveness of hers but he had no interest. After a while she moved on. He is in pretty bad shape. It would be merciful if the cold winter we have up North in Algonquin, would take him. (This story based on what I heard from two different sources and they were closely matched) Thanks for looking. Canon 1D Mark IV Canon 100-400 L IS II. at 400 ISO 1250 f 5.6 1/250 s HH.
