Bighorn Charge! #5

Okay, here's the next one.... you've seen them almost colliding, you've seen them actually colliding, this one has a bit more separation.

I chose this one because I like how the two rams are approaching from the outside of the frame. I'm interested to see if you find this appealing, or if there is too much missing in the way of their bodies. It is a bit contrasty, taken at 1pm.

I was sitting in the car for this one, and could not even see the left ram as he was directly behind the car. I could only focus on the right ram and cue my shutter based on his actions. In honest truth, I believe I caught the left one as a bit of luck.

Note this was taken at 70mm on the 70-200... I needed the 28-70!

Nikon D1x, 70-200 VR @ 70mm, ISO 250, 1/1000 sec, f8, -.3 EV, handheld.

Thank you for looking and for any comments you care to make

Hey Bob,

Rockin stuff. Love the action, the suspense of this one. I can't imagine how awesome this must have been to witness.

Cheers

It's rough when you have too much lens at 70mm :D I like the suspense, but do wish for more of the rams in the frame. Still, great anticipation to catcht them in the air like this. I can only imagine how exciting this must have been to watch.

I love the framing of the rams on opposite sides of the images. Very effective. The background intrudes a bit for me, though--it's almost as if the ram on the right is butting the ground cover behind him; the separation between the bare ground and rocks behind the ram on the left isn't ideal either. Still, great idea, and interesting image.

This is the first one of the series that doesn't quite work for me Bob because of the large space between them. I have really liked them all up to now, but I have to be honest on this one. :? 8)

I really like it !
For me the others of the series look static compared to this one.

I think it goes well with the entire series. On its own, I wish there was a little more separation of the left animal from the background.. Its a tough day when 70mm is too much, gotta chuckle at that. Keep up the good work Bob.

I do like the suspense / tension of this but I'd have preferred about 1 sec later than this, i.e. the rams closer together and more of their bodies in the frame. Either that or a wider view of this including both. It does look like there are differing opinions on this though! I am very much enjoying this series!
