Bighorn Charge #3

I hope I'm not going to wear you out with these sequential postings.....

I photographed this group from 8:30am - 1pm on Sunday... they were still going at it and I had run out of cards. I shot 6 cards of images, most of them sequences of this action. It was the most fun I've ever had with bighorns. For this image, I was beside the car and they were only a short distance in front, as you can see with the focal length of 102mm.

Nikon D1x, 70=200 VR @ 102mm, ISO 250, 1/1000 sec, f/8, handheld

Comments and suggestions welcome!

Keep 'em coming, who could get tired of stuff like this. I like the perspective with the 3 disinterested bystanders in the background!

Love the background on this one and its obvious the three women in the background just don't understand this testosterone stuff. Nice composition! I wish the car tire tracks were'nt there.

This is terrific. Your enthusiasm is infectious. Its something you were using a little lens and were able to enjoy this so close. For this picture, like the others, I like the three grazers in the back while the boys are getting headaches!

These actions shots are great! I'm amazed they go at it that long--they must have amazing skulls.

Where were these taken??

The women have the right idea here Bob - they know all this stuff is just a waste of energy and what's worse, after all this the boys will be saying 'Not tonight dear, I've got a headache'

This is my favourite of the sequence so far bacause of the composition, content and BG. Certainly not tired of them - if you've got more, keep 'em coming!! 8) 8) 8) 8) :)

Bob, keep em coming! This is my favourite, so far. Beautifully composed with the bucks in the front and the girls in the background with the mountains. I can see why you would have stayed and filled 6 cards!!! Great series :D :D :D

Excellent image, to my mind easily superior to the others. First, the light is much softer--no excessive contrast. Second, no cut off feet. Third, the wider view tells the whole story, as others have noted. Fourth, the composition is strong, the diagonal ridge echoing the shape of the rams and separating them from the bystanders, and the road making a nice leading line toward the bystanders. Only negative is the tire tracks, which could be cloned out.

These were taken on the dirt frontage road at Georgetown, CO... a favorite spot for bighorns to gather at.... the road parallels I-70 for a couple miles.

Well, you try to save the best for last.... except there are more to come! The next ones will be a little more "comical" or offer somewhat different views...

Thanks for the input!
