The firs three days we were in Yellowstone, we got rain, sleet, and snow. The sunlight returned on the fourth day. The animals were constantly adusting their activity in accordance with the weather. When the sunlight reappeared, the Bison in Hayden Valley came out in the open in groups of forty-fifty animals, with easily 500 - 600 animals in sight. When they weren't feeding, they were relaxing, soaking up the warm sunshine. This dominant bull was taking his ease, keeping an eye on "his herd." I tried to maximize the relaxed nature of his pose by shooting on his level as he lay in the sagebrush. Unfortunately the angle of the sun and his pose didn't provide a catchlight.

I enjoy the relaxed pose as you describe.. Great background.. Yes, a catchlight would be nice, could probably do a little PS massaging with dodge and saturate to put a little life in the eye.. Good work DBrewer and thanks for sharing another fine image.

David, I personally have not seen good images of this great animal that provided so much for the Plains Indians. Thanks for sharing!

Well done. Nice portrait lacking only a small catchlight to make it even better.
