Shortly after we left the Dwarf Mongoose, we came across four zebra. Everywhere we went around that area, we always saw four zebra. I asked the guide if there was in fact only four zebras in the park and the rest were done with mirrors.....he wasn't amused

This particular shot came about as we first approached them. The little one was unsure of us at first and went close to mum for comfort. I just happened to be looking in their direction and saw what I thought was going to happen. Fortunately I was right :)

Comments welcome and thanks for looking.

Dave,

Good DOF but I'd like some separation between the two.

Dave I sort of like the two together!!! It goes from a generic Zebra image to something different!!! :)

I like the way the little one is sort of tucked in and looking apprehensive while mom is looking straight ahead

Neat image!!!!! 8) 8)

Very cute DC. I like close ups so this is a good one to my eye and the behavior, the little one pressing into mom, is precious.. Looks like a little catchlight in moms right eye, but a little selective dodge then lean on the sat right in the iris/pupil area might provide a titch of life to the eye areas..Otherwise, faultless to my eye.. Wonderful interaction, thanks Dave.

Its the togetherness that makes this shot for me. I love the way the two are almost one and the neck stripes almost continue from one to the other. 8) :)

I love the eye-contact they have with the photographer. In addition they are very beautiful animals of the perfect light condition. A great shot!

I love the closeness in this shot - I've never managed to get a decent angle on a zebra and foal, so really appreciate this one :)

I like the overlap and composition really well. Maybe working the levels and curves could give just a bit more separation between the blacks and the background.

Unique, effective and intimate. Love the head on look. One of the best zebra shots I've seen. Concur with E.J. on a bit of curves or perhaps shadows/highlights on the background to get the zebras to pop a bit more.

Rich

P.S. So where are the other two? ;)
