This is the same bear I posted previously with the scum on her face and is one of my favourites as I'm a real sucker for the habitat shots. It was taken just as she rounded a bend in the river and, I feel, really puts the subject nicely in another of its natural habitats. This is distinctly different in atmosphere from the images we shot on the beach and those we shot in the estuary yet really only yards apart (tell that to my aching feet!). I remember commenting to Chas that the diversity of scenes we were able to shoot was quite remarkable.

John, this is yet another superb brown bear image from the trip. I too prefer the inclusion of environment, now going this route myself  I could not agree more on the diversity of habitat we covered. As you are showing, this was an incredibly productive trip.

DO NOT SELL THAT 300-800 lens :D

See you there again next year,

Another fine shot John, but for me, your Coastal Bear still takes the top spot! You really have got some gorgeous Bear images in this series. Well done!! 8) 8) 8) 8) :)

Wonderful!

I'll go against the grain and say that I prefer this one to the coastal shot.

The turned head and raised paw are perfect! The colour is much nicer on this, IMHO.

Nicely done! The light on the coat of the bear is gorgeous and brings out the details. I also love the hints of the environment this shot. Unfortunately, I didn't see any brown bears when I was in Alaska...gives me a good excuse to go there again soon.
