Captive

Taken early last year. Could do with re-scanning on a decent scanner, but I thought I'd share this one as it fit the theme.

Comments welcome and thanks for looking.

Quite a different look than Tony's cheetah. Cheetahs are definitely my favorite big cat and I'm a fan of head shots so this is a winner in my book.

The first two words out of my mouth were...."Oh man"... I love tight in head shots and this one is out of this world. A gorgeous cat, perfectly exposed and so much detail ... Words escape me ... You must be very very proud of this one! Thanks for your top notch contribution to the forum Dave!

Dave, everything about this one is right on. It's just perfection! The subtle catchlights really make it great.

Now that's a serious look. Looks great too me. I'll bet it looks fantastic as a large print.

Dave, you know how much I love this shot. No matter how many other great pictures you take - and there will be many, this one is and always will be, very special.

It was seeing this Cheetah portrait the first time which made me want to take up wildlife photography and so it holds a very special place in my heart.

This is absolutely stunning and so sensitively taken to show the true inner beauty of this beautiful big cat.

Thank you all so very much for those kind comments, I'm touched.

I hadn't been back in photography for very long when I got this guy. There are two cheetah in the enclosure at this wildlife park. When I arrived they were both laid down, so I went off to see the tigers for a while. When I came back an hour later, they were still laid down, but in a different place. I just put the tripod down and waited. Twenty minutes later, this one got up, walked to a rock about 8 feet in front of me and sat up on it. Boy did I move quick that day :) I have another shot of him looking directly into the lens, but it is somewhat spoilt by a large bright area in the BG, which you can just see the beginning of in this one on the RHS I have no idea why he moved or what made him sit up and stare, I'm just thankful I was there when he did ;)

Thanks again, much appreciated.
Dave
