Captive
African Leopard
EOS 10D, 300F4L IS, 1/1600, F5, Ev-2/3, 550EX -1/3

Was definitely high noon when I shot this, the light was very harsh.

Using flash to reduce the contrast also had the added benefit of making the BG dark.

I don't remember her tongue being out when I tripped the shutter.

Comments welcome and thanks for looking.

Wow! The lighting in this is absolutely spectacular!

And the tongue is a nice bonus.

I agree with Paul. Excellent control of difficult light.. The upward glance and tongue give the impression to me that a drop of water is about to fall onto the tongue from some unseen leaf or plant... Great job Dave..

Really cool image, Dave. Dennis is onto something with his water drop theory!! Super details and utterly unusual to see her tongue!!! 8) 8) 8)

Great shot Dave. You did an excellent job controlling the lighting. I really like the eye looking up and the tongue is a bonus as well.

Thanks all for the comments, very much appreciated.

I too like water drop theory put forward by Dennis, I can't give away the secret  but let's just say that it isn't far off :)
