....can you see me?

I wish this pair was up higher but there was a ridge right in front of them which caused the trunk to be just below the grassy area. Still I enjoy looking at this image because it shows how protective the Momma Elephant is with the baby. Amazing to watch a group of them with the little ones, they all work to protect the young. Saw this behavior over and over and it just amazed me. Kenya, February 2004.

The interaction between these mighty adults and their babies is always a joy to watch, and the way the others in the family group help out is very touching. I agree its a shame about the end of the trunk, but the capture of this tiny baby, so protectively shielded by the mother is wonderful!! 8) 8) 8) 8) :)

I don't think the tip of the trunk is an issue. This is simply quite superb.

Elephants are my favorite animals, as I guess they are for a lot of people. I think part of it is the care they show for each other, especially their young.

A classic image.

Well, elephants are one of my favorites as well, and this is about the best capture of this behavior I've ever seen. While it would be nice to have the trunk (and not have the grass), I stared long and hard at the little guy before looking at the bottom. Well captured.
