Bit of an awkward looking pose but it works well here, as does the monochrome look, although I would be tempted to bump the contrast just a bit. Most amazing thing is the lack of flies and the lack of scars! Although it does look like one very happy tick on the ear. :? Out of curiosity, where in Tanzania did you shoot this?

What a beauty she is Bill!! I love the way she's tucked her paws together so neatly!!

Wonderful shot. I might be tempted to push the contrast/saturation just a tiny bit if it were mine, but that's not a criticism - just a thought!!

Thanks for posting this beauty!! 8) 8) 8) 8) :)

Rich:

The Lioness was photographed about 25 Km from Kusini Camp. She was lying on a river bed near a lake. One of these days I will pinpoint the spot because it was a wonderful place for all kinds of wildlife from birds to mammals.

Thank you Carol. I could not decide what to do about the saturation. The out of camera shot looked oversaturated to me. I was trying to remember the light and what I saw. I wanted to present the shot as close to reality as I could. The original has a great deal more color. Guess I should have stayed with what the camera gave me. Thanks for your comment, I am always open to suggestions for improvement. Best regards, Bill

Great detail here. It is nice to see such a 'clean' lion.
