This was taken from very close (within 50 yards) to where my recent "Sheepscape" post was taken, only a minute or two later (it's actually the next frame). But while that was taken with a tripod mounted 50-500 at full extension, this was shot handheld with a 28-135 IS somewhere in the middle of its range, out the window of the car. (Sensia 100).

I'm presuming this is a bighorn sheep, because of the location (south of Calgary). The colour of this herd (all much lighter than the typical bighorns I've seen) made me wonder at the time if they were Dall's sheep, but I don't think they come nearly so far south.

Nice up close shot of a shaggy sheep. Good eye detail, like the smooth background, but wondering about a color cast?

I see a magenta cast that's baaaaaadddd but otherwise it's groovy!

That is one in your face sheep shot Paul! Nice detail, good bright eyes and good DOF. Just the slight magenta cast as already mentioned, that's my only minor nit.

Nice one! 8) :)

Nicely done. Agree about the colour cast.

I didn't see any of these guys when I was up there a couple weeks ago.

Nice portrait Paul. He looks a little too tan to be a Dall Sheep.
