At least I guess this is a chipmunk, a western species? This little guy makes his living around the cabins outside of the Grand Canyon Lodge at the North Rim.
I found him right at the doorsteps of our cabin. I could take some more shots by crawling in the dirt in front of him.

Thanks for looking,

Sweet shot Anne. I like the unusual composition you've got here. If I had one nit, it would be for more picture and less frame ;)
Great shot tho'. :)

This is a nice artistic shot Anne and a sweet image of the little guy but as Dave said it would be good to see more of him and less frame. :)

I really like this image, your composition and the various elements go well together and has an "autumn" feel for some reason (maybe just my wishful thinking?) Looks like a Golden-Mantled Ground Squirrel. Chipmunks "always" have stripes on their faces, as a quick reference. I agree with those who want less frame.

Very artistic and different shot. I like the comp a lot. Due to the size of the ground squirrel, it makes me feel like he is guarding his food cache behind that door. He is certainly not hurting for food. Good to see you on NSN and over in this forum. I hope we get to see a lot more of your work.

Great image, I like it just the way it is presented. The subject size and placement in the frame are excellent. Very well done.

This is a really nice image! I don't mind the frame as this is the way I'd see it hanging on a wall. The only problem with it is that such a large frame posted here means the image itself is smaller. I'd like to see just the image at 650 pixels. Cute little guy!

That's a well fed ground squirrel. I like the comp and detail on this but I am in the less frame camp.

I looked at this late last night and came back again for another look today. I really like this. I am trying to figure out why I am drawn to this. I think it is the look on the little guy and the quiet simplicity of the shot. The background contains linear elements which are accentuated with the crop and the framing and the little guy is simply sitting there in the lower corner. The cold gray rock and the old wood are set in contrast with the main subject. Today is creativity day on FFM and thanks for a very successful post..

Ann,
This is a great shot! For some reason it looks like a painting and I mean that in a very good way. Nice job with the composition.

Very nice composition, if you can't go large, go small. Nice lighting separating the subject from the background. The more I look at the image the more I like it.

Cheers,

James

Very nicely done. The composition really makes this, I think for the reasons Dennis has stated well.
