Parrot Snake, Costa Rica
D1x, 300f4, iso 400, f5.6, 1/125, Canon 500D diopter, SB800, handheld, full frame (0.87:1 magnification factor). This is the first and only subject I have photographed with this setup. I usually attach the two-element diopter to my 80-200 f2.8 for close up work (allows 0.67:1) or else add extension tubes to my 300f4-S but these were all unavailable when I came across this parrot snake. After getting this image I stopped down to get more detail but I like the view of the tongue and lighter BG in this image. Comments, critiques and reposts welcome. Jerry Merrell
