Lioness
Maasai Mara, Kenya 1997

I went to Kenya in 1997 during El Nino. We had rain at some time every day. On this particular afternoon we had a shortened game drive because those dark skies in the BG quickly became a torrential downpour. I was fortunate to get a series of shots of this lioness in sweet light before everything got dark...and very wet!

Nikon N90s, not sure which lens and either Provia 100 or Sensia 100 on a beanbag from a LandRover.

Very dramatic environmentals in this shot! Without the story I would have wondered if it was done digitally. Great pose for the lioness too!

We closed the roof hatches before the heavy rain started.

Cheryl, I really like this shot. The expression on her face and the sense of lowering clouds make this a very dramatic image.

If ever a shot came near to capturing the dramatic nature of Africa, then this comes pretty close Cheryl!! 8) 8) 8)

Very nice environment shot. The open jaw really adds a lot to this one.

Nice layers and good use of negative space to show the lioness in relation to the environment.

Nice image Cheryl! I love seeing the difference in your "green" trip. Short, rainy season huh?
