Eastern Chipmunk
Orr, MN

This was taken this May on a black bear workshop. When the bears were not around, we had to make do and 'shoot the rodents'. This chipmunk was not shy about taking the biggest carrot in the pile.

Canon 10D with 500IS and 1.4 TCII on tripod, ISO 400, 1/1600 @ 6.3 ( I have no idea what I had been set to shoot at this speed and ISO-a flying bear on a cloudy day maybe!) Cropped from vertical to get rid of huge splashes of whitewash.

What is striking about this one to me is the incredible sharpness. Congrats on the come from behind victory.

Cute shot Cheryl, the carrot really provides perspective with respect to how small the little chippies are.. No nits here and as EJ said, very very sharp.

Wow! This really goes to show you what the high ISO images look like out of that camera. This is so sharp, not to mention cute!

ROFL! Gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "your eyes are bigger than your stomach."

Big twist on yesterday's ending! Thanks again.

This is just so cute Cheryl. I laughed out loud when I saw that huge carrot! Did he eat the whole thing at once? As everyone has already mentioned, the sharpness is excellent here.

What's up Doc?? :D Oh wait, that's not a rabbit.

Very nice image. As everyone has mentioned, super sharp, great exposure and nice complimentary background.
