The experience was absolutely incredible. This shot isn't half bad either! Thanks again for another great workshop.

Chas: nice image of a wonderful subject. I agree, the experience of swimming and interacting with the manatees is really what it's all about; photographing them is just icing on the cake. Thanks for a great workshop.
Rich.

Hey Robert, no cert is necessary. Many are snorkeling and first timers at that. The average depth is less than 5 feet, and you can stand at most times. Every wildlife enthusiast must experience this encounter.
All equipment can be rented on site.

Wow! Love this one!
I've liked all of the manatee posts, but this one really has character, not just because he's giving you the old raspberry either. :)

Chas- Your ability to handle color balance really shines through in comparison to some of the other manatee images and further shows that the small technical and aesthetic details can make a big difference in the impact of the final image.

Chas,

Very nice and the low angle really works well.

Look at that face!! What a GREAT shot. I agree with Dan's comments about the color balancing. I appreciate the added info about being able to rent the equipment to do this kind of photography.

Great shot, Chas -- perfect angle to photograph him from and a great all around pose. Is the far side of the tail perforated from a power boat run-in?

Chas,

I, too, can't wait to do the manatee trip again! This image has it all...expression, clarity, detail. It's amazing :)

Mat, thanks for the comments. Yes, the tail has been mutilated from a boat prop encounter.

Holy smoke! What sharpness through the head! Awesome! (And it cracks me up to see the green shadow reflected looking up at the water's surface.)

Chas, the colors are wonderful, but it's that manatee smile that really makes this one special!
