I have held up running this update.  A friend of mine reported afterwards, he has lost all of his Nik plug-ins.  Is anyone else have this  issue?

Loosing your plug-ins is normal when they apply a new updated version. I believe you just have to reinstall them. Also, you do not have to uninstall your previous version and can use both if you want.

Looks like I spoke too soon, When it updated from 2017 to 2018, I was able to just reinstall them, but this time from 2018 to 2019, it is not working. Will have to Google how to get them back.

Just copy them across from the plugin directory in your old photoshop to the new plugin directory, no need to reinstall etc.
Restart your photoshop and they will show up.

This is correct, which I finally figured out last night. Although I was not able to simply copy over Topaz DeNoise 5 as cc 2019 would not recognize it. I had to download and install the latest Topaz DeNoise 6 version for it to work. Whereas Topaz Detail 3 did just copy over and work in cc 2019.

O well! I guess I'll spend some time tomorrow getting everything back the way I want. I will assume the various preferences will need to be restored as well.

I did the update on October 16 and have had no issues at all. I have NIK EFEX and Neat Image and they both stayed plugged in with the update.
Only thing that did not reload was my workspace.
