Heading to Sedona AZ for a long weekend and wanted to take some time for some sunset/sunrise landscape shots.

Would appreciate any suggestions spots that would be worth checking out in mid September.  Thanks.

Sunrise at Bell Rock and sunset at Cathedral Rock as seen from Crescent Moon Ranch are two that you should not miss.

Hi,

Right now, the sun is setting to the right of 89A, so check the Photographer's Ephemeris (TPE) for exact times and locations of sunrise/sunset.

Along with what E.J. said, try these places:

Go to the end of Compactor Road and you can get the Cock's Comb rock formation in your photos.
The Hyatt Pinon Pointe shops near uptown. By the Cold Stone Creamery is a small seating area which gives you great views of Snoopy Rock and the surrounding hills.
In Uptown, turn on Amara Lane, and go left into the parking lot. The far side of this lot gives you great panoramic views of the hills around the town.
In Uptown, Pink Jeep has a little coffee shop. Their outdoor seating area gives good views of Snoopy Rock too.

Have Fun,
Jeff

Also take the road up toward the airport, about halfway up there is a pull-out on the left right at a sharp right turn with parking.  Get out and hike to the top of the rock - it's a very short trail - great 360 views of the entire valley.
