It's only 10% more so if it costs also 10% more I'd buy the 2300 mAh but if it's more expensive...

The mah (milliamp hour) rating is the capacity of the battery to hold charge. A 2300 mah battery will hold enough charge to deliver 2300 milliamp (or 2.3 amp) for 1 hour, or 230 milliamp for 10 hours.
Divide the mah rating of the battery by the current requirement of your camera (or whatever) in milliamp (multiply by one thousand if quoted in amps) to find out how long the battery will last in hours. Of course you are not using your camera 100% of the time or at 100% power usage, so it will last longer in reality.

The difference between the two isn't that much, but if there is not much price difference then go for the higher capacity batteries.

Alexandre,

Please be aware the newer 2100 and 2300 mah batteries require a charger capable of charging this specific mah (loading current, internal resistance, automatic shut off circuitry etc.)

The charger I got with my 1800 mah does not load the newer 2300 types correctly ....

Thanks for the advices.

I just found a Varta charger that claims to be the fastest charger on Hearth. It charges 4 2300 mah batteries in 15 minutes, and it says that batteries will make 1000 cycles.
It has a 3 year guaranty.

The downside is that it costs more 50% that the other models who take an hour or two, and I'm not sure if I need my batteries charged that fast.

Faster than a speeding Peregrine. :)

Not sure what it will do for battery life, but if they guarantee 1000 cycles maybe it's ok.
