Has anyone seen those small metal platforms that you can mount on top of a lightstand? I have seen and used them myself but need to get another one and I can't find them at B&H. It's just a cheap metal plate with a lightstand mount on it...

Greg, I'm not sure what you are asking for. Are you looking for a platform with a flash shoe so you can mount a flash on a lightstand? Can you describe it and what it is used for a little more?

Bob,

Basically a platform that mounts to the top of a standard light stand that becomes a small flat table top. Not for flash mount but basically a flat top (maybe 8 inches square). I have seen them and keep meaning to buy one but can't find them. :(

Greg, I made one once out of a piece of plywood. You can get those metal 1/4 x 20 (or 3/8 x 16) threaded inserts to fasten to the tripod or light stand. I used mine as a platform for a slide projector. I have not seen one made of aluminum. You could get a 1/4 inch x 8 x 8 piece of aluminum from Enco for about $30 and drill a hole in it to attach it to the lightstand.

The closest thing that I know of is a flat base for putting slide projectors onto a tripod base.

Yeah, that is what I found. It's simlar to what I am looking for but way too bulky, heavy and expensive for what I am using it for.

Bob, I was thinking of the wood idea and may go that route...thanks again.
