This was one of many Pronghorn I saw this weekend at Custer State Park. Me, Les Voorhis and Jason Hahn worked very carefully and slowly to get close to him, and he sat, bedded, the entire time, never even giving us a glare. It was a wonderful experience to be accepted into his territory. While we were working our way towards him a doe came up, ate a bit, and then sat down a few paces to the left of him. This was one of many shots where I was just playing around with various f/stop+shutter speed combinations just outta curiosity. The higher f/stop to try to get more of the foreground/background all in better focus. He really did pick a beautiful little meadow to bed down in.

Canon Eos20D + 400mm f/5.6L, 1/100th, f/16, ISO400.

Great shot of a beautiful buck !
Great exposure and sharp detail. Nice to have the foreground in focus.

Very nice indeed Chris.

I probably wouldn't have dared to go to 1/100 @16.

Cheers

Beautiful image; expertly done. I agree with the comment about a lovely meadow; the complementary colors of the BG really put this over the top.

Nice work. I like the background, especially. I looked for you guys this weekend but didn't see any other photographers around.

Beautifully done. The DOF really helps the image. It seems odd to see a pronghorn in such short grass- but that really makes him stand out. :)

Nice one Chris, I do like this with the extra dof to get the foreground. The beautiful color and subtle pattern of the bg is a good setting for this handsome fellow.
