Up close with an Ele
Sausage Tree Camp, Lower Zambezi National Park, Zambia. EOS10D, Sigma 100-300 F4 + 1.4TC, ISO 200, F8, 1/60. This is the one time I gave up my seat to a gentleman. Sitting on the deck on a morning we spent in camp, we were joined by a very large Bull Elephant with the largest tusks we saw on any Ele during our whole stay! We moved to the seats on the other side of the deck and sat watching this massive guy as he stood, at times, just 6 to 10 feet away. We prayed he would be a gentle giant - and thankfully he was! For anyone who loves Ele's, this is an almost daily occurrence at Sausage Tree Camp, and certainly an amazing experience with a totally wild animal of such a vast size! Carol Clarke
