Fire at Spences Bridge

On a whim, I decided to take Hwy 1 instead of the Coquihalla Hwy from Kamloops to Hope on my Way to Vancouver last week. This was shot from the side of the road just outside Spences Bridge, looking over the Thompson River at the hillsides on fire.

Canon 20D, 28-135 IS NOT! (see below)

D'oh! I just realized a mistake in my description above. There is no way (without substantial cropping--but this is full frame) the sun would be that big in the frame with a 28-135 lens. This was shot with the Sigma 50-500 at or near 500.

The neat thing is that at full resolution you can see what looks like sunspots on the sun!

An excellent image. Its a shame that it takes wildfires toset the stage for this but you did a great job at capturing the right mood.
