shot this last year, being in right place at right time to see a rainbow begin to form....resize all but kills the rainbow's detail in center and is nowhere near full size in detail, but you get the gist I'm sure....this was the shot that hooked me into landscape photography....only tweaks i did to this photo was slight S curve, light noise reduction....no big saturation increase on this one this time... i know it breaks the "3rds" rule by placing the horizon in center, but that's how i wanted it this time....more sky or more foreground just seemed to kill the balance of this image, so i kept it as is on the crop...opinions welcome as always....

I like the colors and especially the clouds in this one! Is this in Merced too?

Wonderful image which must be incredible in full size. Though the blue sky is a bold contrast to the yellow, I would suggest cropping most of it. I think that would improve the comp and bring more emphasis to the cloud and rainbow. That also helps the slight vingetting in the corner, especially the left. Alternatively, if you kept all the sky, you might want to lightening the corners. Amazing rich colors and forms here, though.

I much prefer the original image. It looks like a beautiful landscape as opposed to the cropped version that looks more like a Rorschach test. The over analysis of photographs is, in most cases, a bad thing. There is no "perfect" crop. People should just view the image and not examine every pixel under a microscope. The original is what the artist presented and is a beautiful scene. That is fact. I guarantee people today would suggest the Mona Lisa be cropped differently if it were a photo. Superb work Kchaz.
I post therefore I am.

Wow, the crop makes a dramatic difference! Not necessarily a better image, but a very different one. It is interesting to see how much the blue dominated the first one. I also like how the crop gives you more chance to view the delightful FG. These are both winners!!

(Hey, is that cattle on the field? If so, this should be in EHK!! :D Just kidding, of course.)

Great shot. I prefer the cropped version, but noticed it seems brighter, have you edited over and above the crop?

This is stunning - incredible colors. Would crop about half of the blue part of the sky.

Lovely! The combination of colors is wonderful. I do like some of the blue sky, and probably would agree with EJ's suggestion.

awesome :-D
i like the repost a lot!

The colors are awesome, the composition is great, and the balance is great!

don't worry about the rule of thirds...i would hardly even call it a 'guideline'...
use it if it works...don't if it doesn't ;)
