People get so focussed on visiting Jasper and Banff National Parks that they forget about the lesser-known cousins, such as Yoho and Kootenay National Parks, and the assorted BC and AB provincial parks in the area, including Peter Lougheed, Mount Assiniboine, Mount Robson, Willmore Wilderness, Elbow-Sheep Wildland, and Kananaskis Country. All of these have attributes that are at least on par with Banff and Jasper. These parks (and a couple more) are all in one contiguous block, but the majority of tourists (even those from Alberta) visit only Banff and Jasper.

This is Takkakaw Falls, in Yoho National Park. The road up here is open only in summer. That road probably has the steepest switchbacks I've ever seen on a paved road!

I for one love Yoho and Kootenay. This is a very nice shot of Takkakaw.

Great shot Paul! I was here during a visit to the rockies but down at the base. Talk about impressive. I will have to look for this road when I go back.

Wow, impressive wall. When was this taken? Is this normal flowage? Does it slow down later in the summer?

This was taken early in August. Peak flow would probably have been early July. I think I've only ever been up there late July or early August, so I can't say what it's like later in the summer.

I have to admit that I'm guilty of not venturing further afield - though in part this is because I feel completely overwhelmed with how much terrain this is to explore.

The cropping of the top here feels ackward and arbitrary - I'm curious why you decided to crop part of the peak? It is an impressive flow of water.
