Color and tone contrast are both strong features. The red and green combination is powerful. The water drops on the flower add an extra sensual element and dimension. The ant, though small (I mean in the frame) becomes a point of focus (as does almost any wildlife element of any size), and adds a feeling of scale. The diagonal placement of the flower adds a sense of movement as does the ant's orientation suggesting a "desire" to go up. The background, while, not in focus, is not a solid texture or color with brighter and darker areas that may draw the eye. The flower partially in the frame at the lower right also draws the eye. The ant is somewhat hidden in its placement. With parts of the main flower (and water drops) sharply focused, that seems to become the primary subject. The exposure conveys the full color of the flower vividly, in what appears to be rather soft lighting.

I like Paul's detailed response. Very interesting photo with a sense of scale thanks to the ant.

Love the complementary colors and the droplet details and the diagoanl design. I might have been tempted to push the partial OOF flower out of the bottom of the frame.
