A common green lacewing (Chrysoperla carnea) portrait. Usually I really like the detail in the wings of these animals, but I wanted to try something a little different here and catch a frontal view with a shallow DOF. I'm not too certain if it really works. Honest and tough critiques are very welcome .
Lacewing larvae are active hunters and live off aphids and many other small 'pests'. That's why farmers and gardeners are quite happy to see them. The adults live a more peaceful live though. They mainly eat pollen, nectar and.... aphid honeydew! Quite a change in behaviour! But then... that's not uncommon for insects . Fascinating creatures! Cheers! Arthur Sevestre
