This was taken at the Seal colony at Cape Cross in Namibia. We were unlucky getting a very dull day and with 'only' a few hundred seals, apparently some days it can number thousands and you can shoot them with a wideangle and not the 'effective' 600mm I had to rely on. Thankfully with so 'few' the smell wasn't too bad, only a mild rotten fish perfume lingering on the wind...

Also although these are called 'Seals' they're apparently really 'Sealions'...

I've got quite a few images of them doing this kind of meditative pose, not sure what they were doing, but they certainly looked relaxed!!

Any comments welcome.

Cheers,
Simon

That is an odd way to sleep or rest. But what can you say, humans do the same thing while driving a car....

The fur certainly has nice color and texture.

I really like the pose and the detail in the fur. The BG is somewhat distracting.

I wish I could get in this position! :)

Love the contented look and the pose. Concur with Cheryl on the background.
